General surgery is a vast surgical specialty that focuses on alimentary canal and abdominal contents including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large-intestine, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts. Surgery of the thyroid gland for benign and malignant conditions. We also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast (including benign and malignant tumours), tumours and lesions of the soft tissue, trauma, and hernias like Inguinal, Umbilical, and Incisional. Biopsy of any lesion to know if it is benign or malignant & Excision of Lipoma etc. 

“General Surgery” is a discipline of surgery having a central core of knowledge embracing anatomy, physiology, metabolism, immunology, nutrition, pathology, wound healing, shock and resuscitation, intensive care, and neoplasia, which are common to all surgical specialties.
