Dyslipidaemia or abnormally elevated Cholesterol is the underlying health condition most frequently diagnosed for the first time in the Master Health Check-up Package offered at Hande Hospital, Shenoynagar. Dyslipidaemia can lead to cardiovascular (heart) and cerebrovascular (brain) disease with severe complications says Dr. Kavya Somesh MD (Gen Medicine), who consults in the morning at Hande Hospital, Shenoynagar.
Our Diabetologist Dr. Kannan MD (Gen Medicine) CCEBDM, PG Dip (UK), FICP, FIAMS who consults in the evening at Hande Hospital, Shenoynagar, while concurring says that a substantial percentile of people who come for Master Health Check-up, were diagnosed for the first time with diabetes, hypertensive ischemic heart disease, hypothyroidism, HBsAg positive (Hepatitis B).
High Cholesterol will cause cardiovascular diseases and also stroke. First, patients with hyperlipidaemia will be advised to undergo life-style modifications like diet control and physical exercise. If needed they will be given tablets to reduce their cholesterol.
It is very important to have a regular health check-up as early diagnosis can prevent the disease through intervention and reduce complications. Diseases like diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidaemia do not show any symptoms in the early stages and develop slowly. By the time the symptoms appear, the damage will be done.
Our Cardiologist Dr. Chandrashekar MD (General Medicine), DNB (Cardiology) will also examine the patient, when necessary, by appointment and perform an Echocardiogram and/or a Treadmill test and suggest if the patient needs an Angiogram or any other intervention.
